Trooper

SPONSOR needed URGENTLY!

"Trooper" was saved from a feedlot that ships direct into Mexico.  Yes, we shiver from the thought as well.  He was run through auction in Washington with a whole group of horses who had been retired from a girl scout summer camp program announced the auctioneer.  Yes, we shiver at that thought as well.   He is 34 years old and sound. He managed only barely to survive the feedlot he was taken to in order to be given one chance at getting a home before the next slaughter truck rolled.  An en route slaughter bound truck broke down and the feedlot had to take in 65 slaughter bound horses.  Imagine, young and old, wild and domestic, pregnant, blind, stallions and foals...all together.  Trooper and the tame girl scout and lesson horses got the living heck beat out of them.

Of all the lesson and camp horses we have saved, we always wonder what child rode them that summer, or those years.  What child or how many children would be blown apart with the knowledge of what the demise MOST of these horses would meet. After years of service, did they not earn a retirement?  WHY?

June 2008:

Troopie is with his best friend Gideon whom he shared the ride from Washington with. He is pictured below.

Trooper would appreciate the Andis Cordless Cattle/Horse Body clipper

because he has advanced cushings and cannot shed his coat!

He also has been seeking a buddy who will groom and spend time with him!  His favorite color is yellow and his favorite treat is flax snax.

Update July 2010  pictured with DanAngel, Trooper enjoys the fields of our newest sanctuary.  These horses are 30 years apart and came from opposite coasts.  Both needed Amaryllis and we helped both.  Please help us.
