Comanche, a 20 year
old Appaloosa gelding somehow found himself facing death at a feedlot.
This gentle soul was saved and transported back to AFER.
Update September
2007: Comanche is healthy and happy and resides with Abraham and Ben.
They are the three amigos. Comanche was adopted by a wonderful AFER
volunteer and is very content living the good life in his special barn.
Perfect match, Comanche and his new partner. They will have many
years of fun ahead of them.
Update: Comanche is
doing fine and he lives with Abraham and Karma and Admiral. He
enjoys being in charge and takes that charge very seriously. He is
now in his 20's and as all the elders can attest, very happy to have been
saved from butchering. Hopefully more people will begin to consider the
lives of the older horses. Why is it that many people think a horse
needs to be ridden or should be discarded? Ignorance. Many "riders"
only see their horses once a week. Let's create a movement wherein
people start ASKING the horse what THEY want.
update January 2010
Comanche is losing some vision but very happy with his now long time
friends!
