We are "not for profit" 501(c)(3) horse rescue

Important News

When Christine found at at 4yrs of age that horses could be sold to slaughter and people would eat them in other countries, she vowed to help them escape that fate.  Throughout her lifetime she has held to that solitary mission.

Join Amaryllis and help to change the world for the horses.

Pictured above is Christine who is the founder and president of Amaryllis, her daughter the ASPCA Kid of the Year Rachel on the right and her most loyal volunteer Lisa on the left.  The mission to save serviceably sound slaughter bound horses, offer sanctuary to retired or special needs horses and educate children about animal care is a driving force within them all.

Barbara Colliton Executive Director of the AFER Western Sanctuary  and Cupid.  We operate our western sanctuary on a portion of the land owned by Barbara's family. Her own rescue is www.equineguardians.com.  Currently four of our horses reside within the Ohio sanctuary and the care they receive is wonderful. This ideal location will soon serve as a "welcome ranch" as Barbara's gifts are realized.

A recent newspaper clipping of Barbara, Cupid and a grateful horse-hugger.  They were out promoting equine slaughter awareness.

Thanks to these caring girls for standing their ground and demanding in words and actions that Teddy Bear NOT be sent to die.  Here they are visiting him months later at Amaryllis where he was accepted.

Sunday tours are most often given by our well versed 6 yr old fan Mieke and her favorite horse Bay

"Yes, this is Promise and you can pet him!  Now, follow me and I will show you all my other friends!" "Ok!I love this place!"

Daisy and Becky Ducky help with camp

Huckleberry, saved from a South Carolina Kill Shelter!

Bay, the equine therapist who can "reach" other horses and bring them "out".

Annie teaches children safely! She is SO smart!

Shelby and Dutchess keep the main barn mouse free!

Little Boy works the camps and parties!

Cowboy teaches children safely! He is SO comfortable to ride!

There are countless volunteers...human and animal who all help run Amaryllis.  Everyone has a gift.  We find it in all and allow it to shine.

Additional Support Has Come From the Following:

We Wish to Thank!

SavAtree donated an astonishing $7000.00 of work to clear a heavily wooded acre of land at the Watermill Estate Sanctuary so Jed, Ellie Mae, Sargent, Mayor, Jasmine and Freddy Bear could not only have use of the additional property, but really, really enjoy it.  They cleared and perfected this enormous paddock so that it is like a beautiful park now.  The horses are able to walk from their lush pasture into the park-like setting of shelter and mental and physical stimulation.  Really stunning outcome.  Fabulous effort on part of this great company!  Thank you SavAtree!

Citizenship:

SavATree believes that all companies should give back to the communities they serve. We participate in many events, workshops, publications and service projects every year. The Community Donation Program is a way for us to provide cash donations to organizations while also building our customer reach and getting on more landscapes.

Donations:

SavATree agrees to provide a cash donation of $25 to any member of a participating community organization that signs up for a complimentary consultation on their landscape. The consultation is a property walk between the arborist and homeowner to review the needs of the trees, shrubs and lawn and to make suggestions as to how SavATree and our subsidiary SavaLawn might be able to help the property reach optimum health and vitality. There is no obligation on the part of the homeowner, other than to walk the property with the arborist.
