Penny
Adopted!

Penny seemed
lost when she first came to us.

Penny 1999 15.3h Registered
Tattooed Thoroughbred mare.
This little
girl was not fast enough on the racetrack even though she gave it her all.
Her owners discarded her without looking back.
She grew thin and finally
was sent to kill.
She is now safe and will be given the chance to grow
into
the fine horse she really is.
Update September 2007: Penny blossomed with AFER and was
adopted out to a loving man who keeps her just about 40 minutes from the
rescue. She is really gorgeous and very well mannered and totally
sound. Pictures to follow.

Penny's adoption went sour and she was seized.
Below is her arrival photo. Vet and eye surgeon appointments were
made hastily. What could have easily been removed from her eye was
ignored and so the cancer spread. Lymphoma. Incurable.
When Penny says it's over, the vet will abide.
11 yrs old and sound, safe and adoring.
It's not fair. A barn full of people were watching
this happen to her and not saying a word.
